Michael McDaniel

Michael McDaniel is the Director of Design & Strategy at ICON, a position he has held since January 2020. He is based in Austin, Texas, and has a rich background in design, strategy, and innovation, with over 19 years of experience across various design disciplines, including graphic design, UX/UI design, architecture, and product strategy.24

McDaniel's career includes significant roles, such as working at McKinsey & Company as an Expert Associate Partner and serving in the U.S. Digital Service under President Obama. He also founded a startup called Reaction, which focused on innovative shelter solutions, and he developed a new transportation system for Austin known as The Wire. His work has garnered numerous awards and recognition, including being named one of Fast Company's Most Creative People in Business in 2016.123

He is also a seasoned speaker, having presented at multiple TED events and other conferences, discussing topics related to design and innovation. His contributions to design have been featured in major publications and have earned him accolades from various professional organizations.12
