Greystone Health Midwest is a division of Greystone Healthcare, and is a post acute provider operating thirteen sites and almost 1700 beds/units in Illinois and Missouri.  Specializing in short term skilled nursing and rehab, long term care and supportive living, Greystone Midwest is a preferred provider in most major accountable care organizations in the Midwest.

As the first marketing, sales and operations vice president for the Midwest Division, my primary focus is identifying, developing and implementing new services to compete more effectively in the ever evolving post acute care and senior housing environment.  In addition to my strategic business development responsibilities, I also function as an internal leader for corporate operations, mentoring departmental strategic planning and process improvement projects. Revenue increased in 14 facilities in 2016 and 2017, and short term post-acute occupancy increased for the company every year since 2014.  The division broke multiple revenue records in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.  I led the tripling of Medicare and Managed Care census in two focus facilities in 2017.  Revenue and census climbed every single month in 2019, and January 2020 saw the highest census since 2014.  My main focus is coaching and mentoring field leadership in effective administration, revenue growth and cost management of each business unit.  I also negotiate all partnership contracts for the company, which include medical directors, practitioners, Accountable Care Organizations and clinical support providers.

Legacy Healthcare offers an array of rehabilitative, skilled nursing and specialty care, as well as assisted, independent and supportive living services, tailored to the specific needs of each person. The results-focused approach appeals to physicians, hospital systems and patients because it is proven to accelerate healing, dramatically reduce complications, prevent hospital readmissions and return patients home sooner.  Headquartered in Lincolnwood, Illinois, Legacy currently services 20 skilled nursing and rehab facilities, and over 3,000 Medicare-certified beds in the Chicagoland area under the brand names The Grove, Warren Barr and Avantara, among others.

As the first business development executive and second vice president overall for the company, I designed and managed a department of 40 people.  I developed a strategic business plan for the entire company and for each business unit, which includes multiples levels of skilled nursing and rehab care, supportive living, and assisted living.  I assisted in the identification and viability of future markets and deals by assessing and analyzing the project and market, which includes developing the sales team, communicating the brand change to the customers and public, and quickly assessing the revenue challenges and needs.  I drove the brand transformation of six acquisitions in 2014, increasing revenue in each.  I led a team to develop four distinct new brands for Legacy, as well as the Legacy brand itself.  I directed public relations and web presence development.  I also negotiated business partnership contracts including medical directors and accountable care organizations.  I developed and led the training and coaching of the sales team.  The results were increased referrals and admissions for the company every month consecutively in 2014.  Developed the first lead tracking and management system for the company (<a href="http://Salesforce.com">Salesforce.com</a>), including definition of metric targets for all sales and marketing activities.

Lexington Health Network manages more than 2,000 skilled nursing beds in 10 different post hospital, nursing and long term care buildings as well as more than 500 independent retirement units and more than 150 assisted living units within 3 senior living centers. The diverse network of health care services also offers home health care, hospice care and private care services. Lexington employs more than 2,500 individuals.  Lexington Health Network offers a full network of health care services, including but not limited to post-acute care and rehabilitation, medically complex services, skilled nursing, as well as long-term care services, specializing in memory care programming for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related diseases. Additionally, Lexington’s senior care services include respite care, assisted as well as independent living campuses.

Designed, and then managed, a department of 37 people and personally developed the strategic business plan for entire company. As one of the three legs of senior leadership (operations and clinical), we managed the entire 2000 employee/$100 million+ annual revenue organization in cooperation with COO and Executive committee.  Increased referrals and admissions for company two years in a row, brought on over fifty physicians, oversaw marketing communications including branding, public relations, advertising, seminars and events, collateral materials, as well as website design and content.  Defined and directed marketing programs for demand creation and lead generation and partnered with CIO for development of lead tracking and management systems.  Defined metric and success criteria for all sales and marketing activities.

HCR ManorCare is a leading provider of short- and long-term medical and rehabilitation care. Care is provided through a nationwide network of skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and hospice and home care agencies.  With more than 500 locations in 32 states, it has nearly 60,000 employees, more than 275 Medicare- and Medicaid-certified skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers (over 20 in the Chicago area) and outcomes comparable to and often exceeding those of acute care and rehab hospitals in a more cost-effective setting.

The Senior Business Development Director implements market business development initiatives which support the achievement of growth objectives and strategies of the health care centers in the northern Chicago area.  The Senior BDD is the regional supervisor of all area Business Development Specialists.  The Senior BDD works in partnership with operational leadership to develop an effective sales team.  The Senior Business Development Director establishes regional referral relationships and partnership opportunities and also supervises and provides direction to other regional sales staff.  This position focuses heavily on developing long term partnerships with local health care operations and professionals in the community.  Creating an annual sales plan and budget for the area team to follow is a key responsibility of this job.  Evaluating quantitative metrics of referrals, admissions, revenue and quality payer mix and adjusting the business strategy based on findings is integral to the success of the business units and a key obligation of the Senior BDD.  Negotiating win-win partnerships with local physician groups and hospital networks is also a large part of the work.  Communicating and partnering with community health care professionals, patients and ManorCare team members as well as obtaining buy in from all of these people in different departments of each is critical.

Senior Area Business Development Director

Maintained daily contact with all area hospitals, physicians, clinics and agencies, participated in Chamber of Commerce and Elderly Consortium, developed business relationships, projects and partnerships for the facility with the local community.  Created and then proposed yearly budget to corporate vice president.  Developed admissions and marketing position for the company writing the job description and developing unified systems and best practices, managed a staff of marketing assistants.  Performed in-house marketing and customer service training, developed company website.

Director of Marketing

A full service development firm specializing in commercial and industrial build-to-suits, leasebacks, land development and turn-key construction.  Perry Group, Ltd. has a full-service management division headed by the Director of Property Management with full-time asset and property managers under him and localized part-time managers as well. The Director of Property Management supervises this entire staff.  Currently the firm manages over 350,000 square feet of retail, office and industrial space; over 500 apartment units (350 of which require annual IRS certification). The geographical region of assets currently managed ranges from the far North-West border of Illinois (Galena, IL) to the St. Louis Metropolitan area.  The firm has the most modern accounting software systems and can provide solutions ranging from simple on-site management and maintenance services to full accounting services. They use a local Certified Public Accounting firm for most required services, however, for larger and more complicated projects, the firm works with Virchow-Krause & Company, the 17th largest public accounting firm in the U.S.  Perry customizes management programs for any property that can help relieve the burden of short-term ownership/stewardship of a property.  The Director of Property Management oversaw all of these operations as well as lead the team in acquiring new business.   Created, implemented, and monitored the budget for the whole operation and then divided up sections of the budget to employees to manage for their individual properties.

Director of Property Management

Co-founded Flames Radio, Inc. in 1996 as one of the world’s first internet radio stations. Successfully grew the company from a two person operation and into a large operation where was manager of a staff of more than 80 people, from support staff to on-air personalities, while hosting a highly rated radio show. Featured by MSN and PBS, Flames Radio quickly became one of the web’s most popular radio stations. Seized the opportunity to sell the business at its peak in 2001. The organization that took over the radio station merged it with their own existing station, which continues to operate to date.  As the president, held job titles such as program director and music director as well.  Managed a department head team of eight before selling.  To contrast the other business partner's title as CEO / Director of Operations, the president managed the strategic marketing and sales as well as the strategic business development of the enterprise.  Big picture thinking and revenue producing activity / planning was a paramount obligation of the president.
