Michael Latsko, Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer at Arizona State University
Michael G. Latsko has been named Arizona State University's vice president and chief human resources officer, effective January 2023.1 He will lead the university's human resources programs, including advancing inclusion and culture; benefits; onboarding; professional development; talent recruitment and management; classification and compensation and employee wellness, among other duties.1
Latsko joins ASU from the University of Virginia, where he has worked since 2012, most recently as assistant vice president and chief of staff for human resources.13 During his decade of service to UVA, he has held many senior leadership positions in human resources, from talent management to business operations to policy and risk management and technology and workforce analytics.3
Latsko is an alumnus of the University of Virginia, earning both a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Russian Literatures.1 He is active in Human Resources professional development associations and holds certifications from the Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management.1 Latsko also was president of HR Virginia from 2019 to 2021.1
Before beginning his career in higher education, Latsko held leadership roles at S&P Global Market Intelligence and ExploreLearning, a STEM education company.1 He has been working in human resources for more than 20 years.1
In his new role at ASU, Latsko will report to Morgan R. Olsen, ASU executive vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer.1 He will work to continue building on ASU's tradition of excellence and support the university's position at the forefront of innovation, inclusion, and excellence.12
