Michael Kumiyama

Michael Kumiyama is a senior enlisted leader in the United States Air Force with extensive experience in aerospace ground equipment maintenance and leadership roles.1 He currently serves as the 22 Maintenance Squadron Senior Enlisted Leader at Shaw Air Force Base, a position he has held since August 2021.1

Throughout his career in the Air Force, Kumiyama has taken on various important roles:

1. Aerospace Ground Equipment Superintendent: This is one of his primary areas of expertise.12

2. Career Assistance Advisor: He has provided guidance and support to other Air Force personnel in their career development.

3. Flight Chief: Kumiyama served as the aerospace ground equipment flight chief for the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.4

4. Instructor: He has been involved in developmental courses for Airmen, such as the "Knuckle Buster Academy" at the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, aimed at improving skills and knowledge among maintenance personnel.3

Kumiyama has achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, which is the highest enlisted rank in the U.S. Air Force.2 His leadership and expertise have been recognized within the Air Force community, as evidenced by his involvement in training programs and his progression to senior leadership positions.34

In addition to his primary duties, Kumiyama has also been involved in recognizing and developing talent within the Air Force. He has been associated with the 48th Fighter Wing's annual award program, specifically in relation to the Equipment Maintenance Squadron.5
