Okay, @IntuitMachine and I are saying the same thing: he's wrapping it in business language and #HumansOnTheLoop has typically taken a more philosophical approach to get people to think about how to cultivate their imagination and coordinate on protopian self-fulfilling storytelling, but listen to this and you'll get a very clear sense of what I set out on this project a year ago. (You'll also understand why I put my own values first and don't run ads or worry myself with audience growth, placing my bet on the integrity of the work and the message and that doing so will lead to the right kind of impact and support.)

    From the quoted post:

🪄 What separates winners from losers isn't AI capability.

    It's "organizational agency"—the ability to:

Define your own purpose (not copy competitors)

Assess your own progress (not just track metrics)

Transform your own processes (not just optimize them)

    Navigate strategically (not just react)

🪄 This isn't really about AI.

AI is just the latest system where we can watch this pattern play out.

It's about: Can we optimize for what we actually want, or will we always drift toward optimizing for what's easy to measure?

🪄 Prevention requires doing the hard work of clarifying purpose, building agency, and resisting the pressure to game metrics.

Most organizations won't. That's your opportunity.

🪄 The question isn't: "How do we adopt AI successfully?"

The question is: "How do we maintain purpose alignment while deploying powerful optimization tools?"

One question leads to efficiency theater. The other leads to transformation.

(And to be totally even-handed, yeah this sounds like it was written by a GPT, and that grates a little...because whether it is or not, that's evidence of reward-hacking of one kind or another—either learning to speak in the "effective engagement clip" or leaning on a bot for sheer volume of text. Either seems like it's counter to the point Carlos is making. But then 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe this is just precisely what he decided in advance of publication he wanted to sound like. And if not, then at least he has, in me, a like-enough mind in the body of a poet-editor willing to work together on future declarations. So yo, Carlos. Maybe we can get bicameral on this.)
