Chairman & CEO at FS Investments
Michael Forman is the Chairman and CEO of FS Investments, a prominent alternative investments asset manager. He founded FS Investments in 2007, originally known as Franklin Square Capital Partners, with the vision of providing investors access to alternative sources of income and growth that were traditionally available only to large institutions and wealthy individuals.134 Under his leadership, FS Investments has grown significantly, managing nearly $30 billion in assets with over 300 employees.5
Before establishing FS Investments, Forman had a successful career as a corporate and securities lawyer at Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP, where he eventually became a senior partner.34 He also founded a private equity and real estate investment firm and has been involved in various entrepreneurial ventures across different industries, including gaming and specialty finance.24
Forman is actively involved in civic and charitable activities. He serves on the boards of several institutions, such as The Franklin Institute, Drexel University, and the Philadelphia Center City District Foundation. He is also the Chairman of the Vetri Community Partnership.24 Additionally, he has been recognized for his philanthropic efforts, including receiving the Corporate Leadership Award from the Community College of Philadelphia for his contributions to education and community growth.6
Educationally, Forman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Rhode Island, where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School.34
