Michael Flanary

Michael Flanary is a Transportation Planner II at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), Office of Transportation Planning. He holds a Master's Degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University, a Bachelor of Science in Planning with a focus on Urban Planning from Arizona State University, and a Certificate in Management of Community Organizations from Tufts University.

Flanary joined MassDOT in September 2019 after completing his master's degree.1 In his current role, he serves as a transportation planner and Research Project Manager with the Research Section at the Office of Transportation Planning.1 His responsibilities include managing research projects and coordinating the department's research and technology transfer efforts.12

Flanary is known to be an avid cyclist and enjoys riding his e-bike around Boston. He recently welcomed a new addition to his family, a baby boy named Andy.1
