    With a Master of Education (MEd) in Education and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in African-American/Black Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, Essien is well-equipped with academic knowledge to drive educational change.

    Previously, Michael Essien served as the Director of Community Schools & Partnerships at the Alameda County Office of Education and as the Chief Executive Officer of Essien Education Group. He also contributed as a Peer Resources Advisory Board Member at San Francisco Peer Resources and participated in workshops across various education-focused organizations, including the National Education Association (NEA). Essien's passion for education reform has led him to be a keynote speaker at multiple events, including the 4th District Legislative PTA Meeting in Sacramento.

    His experience extends to hosting workshops for educational agencies serving multiple school districts, highlighting strategies for student success, and contributing to arts education programs. Through roles such as Superintendent's Appointed Member and Co-Chair of various educational committees, Essien has actively worked to improve educational policies and practices.

    Michael Essien's expertise in teacher professional development, curriculum design, and educational consulting has made him a sought-after presenter and panelist. His contributions to educational initiatives at both local and national levels reflect his commitment to advancing educational equity and excellence.

    Essien has been a Fellow at the National Equity Project and held various educational leadership roles in school districts, showcasing his dedication to enhancing educational opportunities for all students.
