Michael Duffy

Michael Duffy is the Vice President of Product Development at Electric Power Systems (EPS), a role he has held since June 2021. In this position, he is responsible for leading the company's business development and product management initiatives, particularly focused on certifiable products for the aerospace industry.134

Background and Experience

Before joining EPS, Duffy had an extensive 18-year career at Boeing, where he held various leadership roles within Boeing NeXt, the company's urban air mobility division. Notably, he served as the Propulsion Lead for the Cargo Air Vehicle program, which showcased electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) capabilities by flying life-size models of Star Wars X-wing aircraft in 2020. He also led several electric VTOL technology programs and collaborated with organizations like NASA and DARPA.12

Duffy holds a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University. He is currently completing his MBA at Washington University in St. Louis, expected to graduate in Spring 2023. Additionally, he has nine patents and several pending applications related to his work in aerospace technology.13

Current Role at EPS

At Electric Power Systems, Duffy is integral to advancing the company's mission to provide high-power scalable powertrains for electrified aviation. His expertise in electric and hybrid architectures is pivotal as EPS aims to enhance its product offerings and market presence in the aerospace sector.14
