Michael Crotty Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Middlesex Magic, a prominent grassroots basketball program based in Massachusetts. He has been involved with the organization since its inception, having played on the first Middlesex Magic team in 1993. Early Life and Education
Crotty was a standout player at Belmont High School, where he earned accolades such as being a two-time Middlesex League All-Star and the 1999 Middlesex League MVP. After high school, he attended Phillips Exeter Academy for a post-graduate year, where he excelled in basketball before choosing Williams College for his collegiate career. At Williams, Crotty achieved significant success, becoming a two-time All-American and leading the team to a national championship in 2003. He holds several records at Williams, including career assists and minutes played.
Professional Career
After graduating, Crotty played professionally for a year, including stints in the Philippines and Europe, before returning to the United States to work with the Boston Celtics as the Director of Player Development. During his time with the Celtics, he contributed to the team's success, culminating in an NBA Championship in 2008, for which he received a championship ring.
Role at Middlesex Magic
As the current leader of the Middlesex Magic, Crotty oversees all teams and coaching staff, focusing on player development and recruitment. Under his direction, the program has flourished, with numerous championships and a strong track record of athletes moving on to play at the collegiate level.
