Michael Chirico

Michael Chirico is a Senior Data Scientist at Google, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has been with Google since September 2020, initially as a Data Scientist and later promoted to Senior Data Scientist in November 2022. Prior to his tenure at Google, he worked at Grab, Southeast Asia's largest mobile tech company, where he held positions as both a Data Scientist and Senior Data Scientist from September 2017 to August 2020 in Singapore.

Education

Chirico holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his dissertation on public economics. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics from the same university, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Additionally, he attended Drexel University for two years, focusing on Mathematics and Economics.

In 2017, he completed a data science program at The Data Incubator, where he gained experience using Python, Hadoop, Scala, and Spark. His capstone project involved geospatial forecasting techniques to analyze fire emergency hotspots in Seattle.
