    Michael Carmen is a seasoned portfolio manager with over 30 years of experience in equity investing, currently specializing in late-stage, pre-IPO equity investments.

    His career in growth-oriented equity investing began as a technology analyst in the late 1980s and has since evolved through various portfolio manager roles, predominantly at Wellington Management.

    At Wellington Management, Michael is part of a team that oversees more than US$21 billion in multi-cap growth public equities as of July 2018.

    Recognizing the trend of private companies staying private longer, Michael ventured into private equity investing several years ago. In 2014, he established a dedicated private equity team that has successfully closed on US$2.4 billion in late-stage, pre-IPO investments.

    Leading this private equity team, Michael actively engages with portfolio companies, leveraging his extensive experience as both a private and public equity investor. He also serves on private boards while contributing to the wider community through active roles in non-profit boards and the Wellington Management Foundation.

    Michael Carmen is affiliated with the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.

    He holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from NYU Stern School of Business and a BS in Accounting from the University at Albany.
