Melissa Robason is an Assistant Librarian at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, working alongside Chief Librarian Robert Sutherland and fellow Assistant Librarians Jennifer Johnson and Àngels Martinez.13
As part of the Met's music library team, Robason's responsibilities include:
- Preparing and distributing orchestral parts for each rehearsal and performance
- Collecting and counting parts after every service
- Distributing stage band parts
- Marking changes such as cuts and transpositions
- Preparing chorus parts
- Repairing damaged parts and producing new parts
- Graphing the orchestral setup of the rehearsal room and pit for each production
- Coordinating with conductors and directors to determine which editions will be used for future productions
- Preparing orchestral audition material1
Robason serves on the MOLA/MLA/Music Publishers Tripartite Committee and the MOLA/Music Publishers Liaison Committee.2 She contributes to the behind-the-scenes work that allows the Met's performances to run smoothly night after night.1
