Melissa Moritz is a dedicated STEM enthusiast, social justice advocate, and lifelong learner with a strong passion for education, health/wellness, and equity. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed her high school education at Deerfield Academy.
Throughout her career, Melissa has held various key positions in prominent organizations, showcasing her expertise and commitment to education and STEM initiatives. She served as an Afterschool and Summer Learning Fellow at both the U.S. Department of Education and STEM NEXT OPPORTUNITY FUND. Melissa has also held leadership roles such as Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships, Senior Director of Student and Teacher Engagement at The National Math and Science Initiative, and Deputy Director of the Office of STEM at the U.S. Department of Education.
Prior to these roles, Melissa contributed significantly to educational organizations like Teach For America, where she held positions ranging from Vice President of Education Initiatives to Recruitment Director and Managing Director of STEM Initiative. She also started her career as a Research Assistant in several renowned laboratories, including Vivian Hook Laboratory, Dane Wittrup Laboratory, and Steven Pinker Laboratory.
