    Melanie La Rosa is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and educator based in New York City with a focus on socially relevant media.

    Her work has received support and recognition from various organizations including the New York State Arts Council, the Brooklyn Arts Council, and The Puffin Foundation.

    Currently, Melanie is working on a feature documentary titled 'How To Power A City' and a related book 'Communities and Clean Energy', both set to release in 2021.

    Her previous acclaimed films include 'The Poetry Deal: a film with Diane di Prima' (2011) and 'Sir: Just a Normal Guy' (2001).

    Melanie La Rosa holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Media Arts from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan.

    She has also studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

    In her professional journey, Melanie has served in various roles such as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at Pace University, Producer and Director at How To Power A City, and Workshop Instructor at DCTV among others.

    Additionally, she has worked on special projects with The Futuro Media Group and as a filmmaker at Octopus Film Video.
