Meic Schmidt
Prof. Meic H. Schmidt, M.D., M.B.A., is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of New Mexico. His expertise includes minimally invasive spinal surgery for metastatic tumors, health outcome and quality of care measures, and Fluorescence and Photodynamic Therapy research for brain, pituitary, and spinal tumors.
Dr. Schmidt's contributions to the field include establishing a thoracoscopic spine surgery technique for tumors and fractures and being recognized by the NASA Space Technology Hall of Fame for his work in LED technology and photodynamic therapy of cancer.
He has published over 140 peer-reviewed publications and holds a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Utah, a medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin with Honors in Research, and an Executive MBA from the University of Utah - David Eccles School of Business.
Prof. Schmidt has held various positions at institutions like New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center, and the University of Utah in roles ranging from Professor and Chair to Chief Value Officer.
