Megna Tare

Megna Tare is an expert in sustainability with a strong track record in setting ambitious goals, developing effective strategies, and executing plans. She is the Chief Sustainability Officer at The University of Texas at Arlington, where she is responsible for driving initiatives in energy efficiency, waste management, transportation, education, outreach, and community engagement. She promotes an interdisciplinary and sustainability-focused curriculum and has launched a Regional Center of Expertise for Education on Sustainable Development Goals in North Texas, a program of the United Nations University, and the Institute for Sustainability and Global Impact at UT Arlington. Additionally, Tare serves and represents UTA on several Advisory Boards including the National Academy of Science Board on Higher Education and Workforce Development—Policy and Global Affairs, Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), and on the Board of Directors for International Council for Local Environmental Initiative (ICLEI USA). She has received numerous accolades for her work, including being awarded Women of the Decade in Corporate Social Responsibility and being named a 2020 Women in Sustainability-Transformational Leader by Wells Fargo/Envision Charlotte. Megna Tare has a strong educational background, having graduated with an MBA in Sustainable Management, MS in Environmental Science, and MS in Chemistry.
