Meera Ragavan
Oncology Fellow at UCSF
Meera Ragavan, MD, MPH, is a clinical fellow in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at UCSF Medical Center.35 She is planning a career in thoracic oncology and has extensive training in health services research.6 Dr. Ragavan's research interests focus on mitigating financial toxicity in cancer care, studying the impact of safety net programs on outcomes for uninsured and underinsured cancer patients, and developing methods to improve access to affordable, high-value cancer care.24
Dr. Ragavan received her MD from Stanford University, where she also completed her internal medicine residency. She holds a Master's in Public Health with a focus on health policy from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.12 As part of her fellowship, she has been involved in research on financial toxicity in cancer care, including designing surveys to evaluate oncologists' perspectives on discussing treatment costs with patients.4
Currently, Dr. Ragavan is a research scientist at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research and a practicing board-certified medical oncologist at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center.1 She has received recognition for her work, including a Young Investigator Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology to study the impact of financial assistance programs on clinical outcomes for patients prescribed oral anti-cancer medications.1
