McKay Jenkins

McKay Jenkins is an accomplished writer, professor, and ecologist, currently serving as an Associate at Scalar. He is also the Cornelius Tilghman Professor of English, Journalism, and Environmental Humanities at the University of Delaware. Jenkins has authored nine books and numerous articles focused on environmental issues and social justice. His forthcoming book, The Maryland Naturalist, is set to be published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2024 and will serve as a primary text for the Maryland State Master Naturalist Certification Program.12

- The Delaware Naturalist Handbook (2020), co-edited with Sue Barton, which serves as the curriculum for Delaware’s Master Naturalist program.

Jenkins holds degrees from Amherst College, Columbia University, and Princeton University, where he earned his PhD in English. His career includes experience as a staff writer for the Atlanta Constitution and contributions to various well-known publications such as Outside and The New Republic. In addition to his academic roles, he oversees the Rock Rose Food Justice Project, an urban farming initiative in Baltimore.12
