Matthew Sanfilippo

Matthew Sanfilippo, also known as Matt Sanfilippo, is the Chief Partnership Officer (CPO) for the College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). In this role, he focuses on facilitating strategic and sponsored research opportunities within the college.

Prior to his current position, Matt held various leadership roles at CMU, including Senior Executive Director for Research Initiatives, Executive Director of CMU's Smart Infrastructure Institute (SII) and Institute for Complex Engineered Systems (ICES), and Associate Director of Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technology Alliance (PITA) and Research for Advanced Manufacturing in Pennsylvania (RAMP).

Before joining CMU, Matt served as the Managing Director of Applied Technology at Michael Baker Corporation, where he oversaw the technology division, including areas such as Geographic Information System (GIS), software development, and virtual reality.

His experience also includes working as an Innovation Director at Redleaf Group, focusing on information security and supply chain solutions, and as a Chief Information Officer (CIO) at GZA GeoEnvironmental Technologies, where he managed web technologies for health and safety applications.

Apart from his professional roles, Matt has been involved in various organizations, such as Larson Design Group, where he served as a Member of the Board of Directors, and Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation (PHLF), where he held the positions of Trustee, Audit Chair, and more.

His vast experience across academia, industry, and venture capital demonstrates his expertise in areas like research initiatives, infrastructure technology, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

With a strong background in engineering and technology management, Matt Sanfilippo continues to contribute significantly to the fields of research and development.
