Matthew Mitchell

Matthew Mitchell is the Co-Founder and Co-Managing Partner of SteepRock Capital LLC, a real estate investment firm based in Greenwich, CT.12 He founded the company in 2010 with his partner John Bucci, focusing on mezzanine debt and direct equity investments in real estate.3

Prior to founding SteepRock, Mitchell served as an Executive Vice President and Principal at Colonnade Properties LLC, where he was involved in project acquisition and portfolio management.1 He also worked as a Vice President of acquisitions at The Taylor Simpson Group.1

Mitchell holds a B.S. from Cornell University.12 He currently serves on the Board of Cornell University's Baker Program of Real Estate and the Board of Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship.2

Under Mitchell's leadership, SteepRock Capital has acquired over $2.8 billion of real estate debt positions and several hundred million in real estate assets as of April 2024.2 The firm focuses on various property types, including multifamily, office, retail, hotels, and mixed-use developments.1
