Matthew Leutwyler

Matthew Leutwyler is a filmmaker and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles and Kigali, Rwanda.1 He founded Accelerated Matter, a company focused on developing and producing socially relevant, commercially viable entertainment that explores issues of human rights, science & technology, and social change.1

Leutwyler has an extensive career in the film industry:

• Directed and produced over 16 feature films and documentaries2
• Directed the adaptation of "The River Why" starring William Hurt, Zach Gilford, and Amber Heard1
• Executive produced "Super" with Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page1
• Co-founded the theatrical distributor The Film Arcade in 20121
• Directed the critically acclaimed sci-fi drama "Uncanny" with Mark Webber and Rainn Wilson1
• Directed and co-showran the 8-episode action-drama series "State of Siege: 26/11" based on the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks1

In addition to his film work, Leutwyler:

• Founded and oversees the non-profit organization We Are Limitless, which provides education and healthcare to Rwandan and Congolese orphans and underprivileged youth12
• Owns a restaurant named Lavana in Kigali, Rwanda1
• Is currently developing a feature thriller set in the world of Nigerian oil piracy1

Leutwyler was born on July 23 in San Francisco, California.3 He is married to Emily Ironi.3
