Matthew Grollnek
Future of Work in Africa - Reimagining Learning - DAOs
Matthew Grollnek is a professional specializing in employability, the future of work, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education and workforce strategies. He is currently the Lead for Employability and the Future of Work at the Mastercard Foundation.1 In this role, he explores how digital technologies, particularly AI, remote work, and demographic shifts, will influence African economies and societies.1 He designs strategies and programs to enhance digital skills and leverage opportunities in remote work to create a more equitable and inclusive world.1
Grollnek was previously a Consultant - Venture Fund Lead at the Mastercard Foundation, where he led the design of projects and worked with African universities to launch venture funds supporting student and alumni ventures.1 He also developed a pan-African internship program to prepare young people for the future of work.1
Before his work with the Mastercard Foundation, Grollnek was an adjunct faculty member at ALX (part of the African Leadership University), where he taught strategy, finance, management, and leadership.1 Earlier in his career, he was a Project Leader at Open Capital Advisors, COO at NetOne Group in Zambia, and held positions with Engineers Without Borders Canada, the U.S. Peace Corps, and the U.S. Department of State.1
Grollnek holds an MBA from the African Leadership University, an MA in International Education Administration from Stanford University, and a BA in Philosophy from Westmont College. He is proficient in English, Bemba, and Nyanja.1
