Matt Purdy

Matt Purdy is a Senior Associate at Breakthrough Energy, focusing on the Fellowship Experience since January 2023.12 He joined the organization in October 2021 and is responsible for supporting the BE Fellows Program, which aims to accelerate the development of promising early-stage climate technologies.2

Prior to his role at Breakthrough Energy, Matt worked at MassChallenge for three years, managing startup programming for HealthTech and FinTech accelerator programs.12 His experience includes:

• Working with partners, investors, and industry experts to help startups develop and validate their technologies2
• Serving as a Startup Program Manager for HealthTech & FinTech (January 2021 - October 2021)1
• Holding positions as Startup Success Coordinator and Operations Coordinator for HealthTech (July 2019 - December 2020)1

Matt's educational background includes a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a minor in Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies from Tufts University.2 During his time at Tufts, he worked on projects such as designing an on-campus footbridge with a team of student civil engineers.1

His professional experience also includes internships at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. as a Project Management Intern, and at HOF Capital as an Investment Analyst.1 Matt is currently based in New York City and enjoys DIY projects, thrifting, surfing, and cooking outside of work.2
