Matt McGuire, FCPA, FCA, CFF, CAMS, AMLP, CCI, is an internationally recognized expert in anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF), with over 15 years of experience in assisting financial institutions to assess and mitigate financial crime and regulatory risks.
He is the Co-Founder and Practice Leader of the AML shop, specializing in FINTRAC examinations, stablecoin compliance, risk management program development, and acting as an expert witness in forensic accounting and money laundering cases.
Matt has an Honors BA and a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Waterloo, as well as a diploma in Investigative and Forensic Accounting from the University of Toronto.
He is certified as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Anti-Money Laundering Professional (AMLP), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), and Certified Cryptocurrency Investigator (CCI).
Throughout his career, Matt has held various advisory roles in organizations such as the AICPA, Blockchain Founders Fund, ACAMS, Coinberry, and Corl Financial Technologies, focusing on financial crime compliance, risk management, and advanced CAMS training.
He has also been actively involved in academia, serving as an instructor at the University of Toronto, Seneca College Institute for Financial Crime Analysis, and as a speaker on money laundering and financial crime at universities, conferences, and government events worldwide.
Matt's professional journey includes roles at top firms like Deloitte, MNP LLP, and Williams & McGuire AML Inc., where he led the National Anti-Money Laundering Practice and Ontario Region Investigative and Forensic Services Group. He has been a key member of various committees and advisory boards related to AML/ATF compliance.
With a strong background in financial crime risk management, Matt has demonstrated expertise in forensic accounting, cryptocurrency investigations, and regulatory compliance, making him a sought-after expert in the field.
