    Matt Haney is the Supervisor for District 6 in San Francisco, elected in November 2018 with a significant majority. He is actively involved in addressing issues related to homelessness, mental health, drug addiction, affordable housing, and public safety in the city.

    Prior to his current role, Matt served as a Commissioner and past President of the San Francisco Board of Education, where he was re-elected in 2016 with a record number of votes. He also has an extensive background in policy strategy working as the former National Political Director at The Dream Corps, leading initiatives focused on criminal justice reform and opportunity creation through his co-founding of #cut50 with Van Jones and Jessica Jackson.

    An accomplished educator, Matt has taught at prestigious institutions including the Stanford Design School, JFK School of Law, and Palo Alto University. He holds a Bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley, a Master's degree from Stanford University School of Education, a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School, and an LLM in Human Rights from the National University of Ireland where he was recognized as a Senator George Mitchell Scholar.

    With a commitment to social justice, Matt also practices as an eviction defense attorney, representing tenants in legal matters. He has been actively involved in various organizations such as Emerge California, the Democratic Party National Platform Committee, and has received multiple awards acknowledging his contributions, including the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club 2016 "Community Ally Award."
