Matt Goldman

Matt Goldman is a co-founder of Blue Man Group and Blue School, as well as the Vice Chair of the Board at Blue School.134 He is an award-winning writer, performer, Grammy-nominated musician, and composer.2 Goldman co-founded Blue Man Group in 1987 with Chris Wink and Phil Stanton, turning it into an international theatrical sensation.3

After nearly 20 years leading Blue Man Group, Goldman shifted his focus to education.2 In 2008, he co-founded Blue School in New York City, an innovative independent school designed to reimagine education with a more balanced and exuberant approach.12 The school aimed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and socio-emotional learning for students from age 2 through 8th grade.5

Goldman is known for his commitment to cultivating creativity and innovation in education. His TED talk, "The Search for A-ha Moments," has been viewed by millions and addresses how traditional school systems can limit true learning.2 He holds both a bachelor's degree and an MBA from Clark University, which awarded him an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in recognition of his contributions to art, business, and education.3

Unfortunately, Blue School closed in June 2023 after 16 years of operation.5 Despite its closure, the school's legacy of fostering creativity, academic challenge, and socio-emotional learning continues to inspire educators and families who believe in children's potential.5
