Innovation Manager & Non Executive Director

Responsible for identifying emerging breakthrough innovation opportunities through horizon-scanning, competitor analysis and targeted research to support the University's ‘best in class’ aspirations, and to assist senior leadership with identifying and mobilising partnership opportunities that complement the Estate Office's strategic priorities.

Supporting Estates senior management with a range of activities, which includes developing the strategy, vision and ongoing direction of Estates Innovation. Responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to innovation projects with both energy and enthusiasm.

Proving support to the Chair & Chief Executive Officer, helping to establish and maintain a well-connected and respected organisation through the leadership, policy and good governance functions of the Board.

Board members provide their time, knowledge, networks and skills in a voluntary capacity to act in the interests of Sustainability West Midlands and the delivery of its vision, mission, and values.

Trained and employed by the University, to provide advice and support to students on general well-being, shared living issues, and academic and financial matters.

Developed and successfully secured two lots of investment for my technology start-up, as part of the 'Summer of Student Innovation Challenge', whilst studying at university.

Responsibilities included:

- Writing business plans
- Conducting presentations to generate investment - successfully obtained two separate lots of investment 
- Developing a prototype - that was later tested at Brunel University.
- Contributing to the strategic planning of Jisc’s re-design of the competition
- Presenting at a variety of events including ‘Jisc Digifest’ at the ICC Birmingham

Main responsibilities included, establishing a five person committee group and networking with internal and external stakeholders. Key achievement included, negotiating specialist consulting training for all committee members in January 2014.

Responsible for developing own client and candidate database and building long term relationships whilst maintaining a primary focus on increasing fee revenue. Ensuring compliance with internal procedures at all times.
