Martin Gill

Professor Martin Gill is a renowned criminologist and the Director of Perpetuity Research, a company that originated as a spin-off from the University of Leicester. He is also the visionary behind the Outstanding Security Performance Awards (the OSPAs), with a global presence. With a broad spectrum of studies on crime and security, including impactful research on Security Excellence, Martin is a leading figure in the field. Collaborating with the UK police service, he played a pivotal role in creating the Secured Environments certification for organizations with a focus on robust security management. A prolific author, Martin has penned 14 books and over 100 articles, notably the second edition of the 'Handbook of Security' released in 2014. His affiliations include being a Fellow of The Security Institute, a member of the Company of Security Professionals, and a Trustee of the ASIS Foundation. His contributions have been acknowledged through numerous prestigious awards, such as the BSIA special award for outstanding service to the security sector in 2010. Achievements like winning the Imbert Prize at the Association of Security Consultants and receiving the ASIS International Presidential Order of Merit for distinguished service in 2016 underscore his impact and recognition within the industry. IFSEC recognized him as the fourth most influential fire and security expert globally in 2016, and he was added to the Register of Chartered Security Professionals the same year.
