Marshall Gusman

Marshall Gusman is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Cosmic Aerospace, a startup focused on developing electric aircraft capable of significant distances. He has an extensive background in aerospace engineering, specifically in aircraft and rocket development, having previously worked with NASA, Kittyhawk, and Boom Supersonic. At Boom Supersonic, he led the preliminary design team for a new supersonic airliner before shifting his focus to electric aviation at Cosmic Aerospace.134

Gusman co-founded Cosmic Aerospace with Christopher Chahine in 2023, driven by a shared frustration with the slow pace of advancements in sustainable aviation. They aim to create the Skylark, an electric aircraft designed to fly up to 1,000 kilometers (about 621 miles), which is intended to serve regional routes and replace older turboprop and regional jet models. The company emphasizes energy efficiency through innovative designs, such as integrating the propulsion system into the aircraft's wing.234

Under Gusman's leadership, Cosmic Aerospace has secured funding to advance its technology and aims to have a full-scale flight demonstrator ready by 2026, with commercial service expected to begin in 2028.12 His work at Cosmic reflects a commitment to making electric aviation a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuel-powered flights, addressing both environmental concerns and operational costs.3
