As Platoon leader, I was responsible for leading a team of 50 soldiers. I had to train them to ensure the availability for hard missions. The special challenge for me as 20 years old Platoon Leader was that I was commanding a team that was significantly older and more experienced than I was. As Leadership is not only about being the best the best in an area, but about having the ability to lead and connecting the best in their area within the team, I was able to master this tightrope walk. We had a very good relationship to each other. I could see my commands always prevail but I could also often benefit from the experience of Sargent and was always open for good advices.
