Markku's educational background includes High School education at PHYK, a degree in Kauppateknikko (Business administration and financing) and MHT (Business administration and management, general) from Markkinointi Instituutti, and an MBA in Economics from Swansea University.

Markku Mutanen has co-founded multiple companies throughout his career, including Business Angels Finland Oy, BAF Finance Oy, Werdium Oy, and PocketVenture. He has also previously worked as a Project Manager at Barona Group Oy and as an Invoicing Manager at DHL and Kelpokuljetus.Fi Oy. His former experience also includes Sales Promoter at Oy Hartwall Ab.
