Set the strategic direction for the New Relic One developer platform, APIs, integrations, and tooling. Build and lead the product teams to deliver on the developer platform strategy, based on a set of common services and frameworks. Drive organizational change through open source and open standards by being "Open First." Conceived and championed the Code for America/New Relic partnership, which enables CfA brigades across the United States to use New Relic on their projects at no cost.

Develop and execute a strategic vision for an extensible, scalable platform and programming model, that enables the rapid creation of new applications, integration of third party vendor offerings, and the assembly and packaging of new offerings. 

Build a developer enablement program, along with tooling and SDKs to accelerate technical enablement for customers and partners to deliver new solutions based on New Relic One platform. 

Through building a community of developers and technology partners, I work across New Relic's internal teams, e.g. Business Development, Channels & Alliances, to leverage partnerships as a mechanism to incubate potential M & A activity and create innovative investment models for emerging companies that partner with New Relic to rapidly deliver new offerings, e.g. industry vertical solutions.

At SugarCRM, I deliver bottom line growth through our technology partner program by identifying, recruiting, and cultivating strategic ISV relationships, expanding our ecosystem, and creating new go to market channels. I redefined the ISV partner program by breaking down barriers to entry, overhauling the education and enablement process, and launching a brand new marketplace, SugarExchange. 

I’ve developed strong working relationships throughout the industry and recruited a new class of partner that strongly aligns with SugarCRM's growth trajectory and enterprise position. Within the SugarCRM partner program, I've driven a new level of awareness regarding partner technology by coordinating education sessions for our sales and customer success organizations. Working with pre-sales, partner technology is regularly incorporated into “Innovation Showcases”.

It is also important to listen to your customers. Working closely with our customer success organization and renewals team, ISV technology is often used to expand accounts and make the Sugar platform more “sticky” by addressing product gaps or integrating into core business practices.

As part of the creating a valuable partner program, I work to develop and nature relationships with Sugar’s ISVs. Support for our program is reflected, in part, by generating sponsorships at our annual user conference, SugarCon, where I've delivered a record number of sponsors and revenue.

As Senior Director, I am responsible for the overall growth of Jive’s Partner ecosystem, establishing strategic relationships that complement our platform positioning, and driving bottom line revenue through referral and reselling agreements. The first year of re-launched program drove ~$1M in ecosystem spend. In addition, I lead Jive’s developer outreach and evangelism efforts, including the Jive Developer Community and JiveWorld.

In conjunction with the other Board members and officers, I work to establish the strategic direction and priorities of the Foundation.

As a Mentor at the CED, I provide provide practical, day-to-day professional advice, coaching, and strategic advice to innovative startups. The topics we work together on cover a broad range of business activity, including product development, marketing, intellectual property law, finance, and founders issues.

As Director, I redefined Jive's strategy for Technology Partners. I built the Technology Partner ecosystem from the ground up, focusing on partners that complement Jive's core capability, extend the platform with new, differentiating features, or integrate multiple systems of record. In addition, under my leadership, we created the Jive Developer Community, created a formalized Developer Program, and implemented a complete technical training program.

As President of the OpenSocial Foundation, appointed by the Board of Directors, I am the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation. Responsibilities include upholding the organization's charter, which is to ensure the free and open development of the OpenSocial specification. This includes working with industry members in defining the scope of the specification, driving implementations, and illustrating, via working solutions, the business value of open platforms. In addition, officers are responsible for the overall operation of the Foundation, including presiding over community elections, and other out reach activities.

Mark Weitzel is currently responsible for defining and driving the social media and Web 2.0 standards and open source strategy for IBM. In this role, he works with IBM senior executives to establish a shared vision of standards based collaborative systems. In executing on this vision Mr. Weitzel has three main responsibilities:

* Ensuring technical and business alignment of IBM requirements with emerging Internet standards and open source projects
* Working with IBM product teams on implementation of open, standards based collaborative platforms
* Establish new revenue opportunities by driving the development of innovative solutions in vertical industries based on open, Web 2.0 standards
