Mark Voelker is a seasoned architect and breadth-first engineering leader with a specialization in distributed systems and networking infrastructure.

Currently serving as the chief architect for a product line at VMware, Mark provides technical expertise to R&D teams, product managers, open source communities, and customers, spanning from pre-sales support to issue escalations.

Mark Voelker's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University.

With vast experience in various roles, Mark has served as Chief OpenStack Architect at VMware, Advisory Board Member for the Gerald Elkan Distinguished Lectureship in Science and Society at North Carolina State University, Co-chair of the Interop Working Group at OpenStack, and Technical Leader at Cisco among other notable positions.

In addition to his professional roles, Mark has been involved in organizational activities such as serving as a Park Scholarships Selection Committee Member, Founder of the Triangle OpenStack Meetup Group, Head of Engineering at Points Per Game, and Board Member of the Park Alumni Society at North Carolina State University.
