Mark Sylvester is a seasoned professional with a lifelong passion for visualizing ideas to enhance decision-making processes. He is a prominent figure in the TED community, having been actively involved since 1993 as an attendee, speaker, TEDx organizer, and host of two popular podcasts related to TED events.
Mark's career trajectory includes a diverse range of experiences, from working as a farm-to-table chef for the Jesuits in Santa Barbara to founding the Academy Award-winning computer animation company Alias|Wavefront, known for creating Maya, a renowned software in the animation industry.
Following his successful venture with Alias|Wavefront, Mark pivoted towards TED and the development of one of the earliest Rich Internet Applications (RIA). Teaming up with his wife, Kymberlee Weil, they launched introNetworks, a unique social network aimed at connecting individuals based on ideas, fostering relationships, and opportunity matching within various organizations.
Drawing from his culinary background and extensive leadership roles, Mark now collaborates closely with organizations to assist them in crafting compelling stories that resonate with audiences, emphasizing the power of narrative in driving ideas and initiatives forward. Currently, he serves as the Executive Producer at Storytelling School, continuing his pursuit of empowering individuals and organizations through effective storytelling strategies.
