Mark Rooney is an accomplished attorney, specializing in defending consumer finance companies facing litigation over various consumer protection laws. Mark has a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Magna Cum Laude from the University of Miami School of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree, Political Science & TV/Radio/Film Production, Cum Laude from Syracuse University. He has worked with several prestigious law firms, including Buckley Sandler LLP, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, and Affiliates. He is also a former Teaching Assistant & Research Assistant at the University of Miami School of Law, where he honed his skills to handle complex cases.
Rooney currently serves as a Partner at Hudson Cook, LLP, where he deals with debt collectors, mortgage servicers, banks, title lenders, and other businesses. He has clients across the United States and defends them in cases related to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and other state and federal consumer protection laws. He also advises his clients on how to tackle government agency investigations, particularly before the CFPB and state attorneys general.
Rooney is a recognized figure in the legal community and serves as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s subcommittee on FDCPA and TCPA litigation, the chair of the DC Bar’s consumer finance litigation committee, and the Attorney Division representative to the Council of Delegates at ACA International.
