Mark Pincus

Mark Pincus is an American internet entrepreneur and the Managing Member and Co-Founder of Reinvent Capital, an investment firm he established in 2018 alongside Reid Hoffman and hedge fund manager Michael Thompson. Pincus is also widely recognized as the founder of Zynga, a pioneering mobile social gaming company, where he served as CEO at various times between its inception and 2016. Under his leadership, Zynga became a significant player in the social gaming industry, famously going public with a $1 billion IPO in 2011.12

Early Life and Education

Born on February 13, 1966, Pincus grew up in Chicago and attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Economics. He later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he co-founded the Communications Club.12

Career Highlights

Pincus's entrepreneurial journey began with the founding of Freeloader, Inc. in 1995, which was acquired shortly after its launch. He also founded Tribe Networks and Support.com before establishing Zynga in 2007. His contributions to the tech industry have earned him accolades such as "CEO of the Year" at The Crunchies in 2009 and "Founder of the Year" in 2010.12

At Reinvent Capital, Pincus focuses on investing in innovative internet, software, and media companies, with notable investments including SpaceX and Oscar Health. The firm has also launched several special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) that have merged with various tech firms.13
