Mark Peden is an accomplished mobile technology executive with over 14 years of experience in the wireless, mobile, and consumer electronics industries. He has a proven track record of driving product and company visibility, forming strategic partnerships, and enhancing team performance. During his tenure at Clearwire, Mark played a vital role in the Advanced Strategy Organization, utilizing his domain knowledge in wireless broadband and mobile technology to launch the CLEAR brand successfully. He collaborated with industry giants like Google, Sprint, Comcast, and Intel to drive bottom-line revenue and create consumer devices.
Having launched game-changing technologies in North America, Europe, and Asia, Mark is widely recognized for his leadership in wired and next-generation wireless networks. His contributions at Intel led to successful investments in broadband, and he later joined Intel-funded startup NorthPoint Communications, which eventually merged with Verizon.
Mark's career highlights include leading the re-introduction of AT&T Wireless' data service (mMode), as well as launching North America's first smartphone in partnership with Microsoft and Motorola. His exceptional achievements were acknowledged when he was named one of the 40 most successful individuals under 40 in Oregon by the Business Journal.
Apart from his professional endeavors, Mark is actively involved in academia as an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University and Clark College. He also serves as a member emeritus of the Board of Directors for the Broadband Forum and the W3C Mobile Web.
Mark's diverse skill set encompasses expertise in mobile technology, iOS, Android, wireless development, strategic partnerships, project management, international launches, contract negotiation, field marketing, product marketing, IP networks, voice/video products & services, and various wireless technologies like Wi-Fi, LTE, WiMAX, and VoIP. He has direct work experience across the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia and is conversational in multiple languages including Mandarin, French, Arabic, Japanese, and Spanish.
In terms of education, Mark pursued Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis at Portland State University while also studying Music and Business at Hope International University.
Throughout his career, Mark has held significant positions in various organizations, including his roles as Senior Director of Technology Strategy at Clearwire, Principal Consultant and Acting CEO at Helius Medical Technologies, and Vice President of Business Development at Simpler Networks, among others.
