Mark L. Homer, PhD, MMSc, is the Head of Healthcare Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Fidelity Investments, a position he has held since April 2019. Education and Background

Homer holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Brown University, where his thesis focused on novel algorithms for decoding neural signals for brain-computer interfaces. He also earned a Master of Medical Science (MMSc) in Biomedical Informatics from Harvard Medical School, with a thesis on predicting falls in older adults based on insurance claims. Additionally, he completed an accelerated BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, concentrating on economics.1

Professional Experience

Before joining Fidelity, Homer served as the Director of Machine Learning & Informatics at Aetna from January 2017 to March 2019. He has also worked as a researcher at Boston Children's Hospital and co-founded pulseData, a healthcare technology company. His extensive experience spans various roles in technical and analytical capacities, including positions at Charles Stark Draper Laboratory and Biogen Idec.1
