Mark Dixon
Chief Executive Officer at IWG plc
Mark Dixon is a prominent English billionaire businessman, best known as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of IWG plc, formerly known as Regus. Born on November 2, 1959, Dixon's entrepreneurial journey began early; he started his first business at the age of 16. After a series of ventures, including a sandwich delivery service and a burger van operation, he founded Regus in 1989 while living in Brussels, Belgium. His vision was to provide flexible office spaces that catered to the needs of businesses seeking convenience and efficiency without the complexities of traditional leases.14
Under Dixon's leadership, Regus grew rapidly and became a key player in the flexible workspace industry. By 2001, the company was valued at approximately £2 billion, although it faced challenges during the dot-com bust that affected its valuation significantly. Despite these setbacks, Dixon successfully rebuilt the company and expanded its global presence, which now includes operations in over 100 countries.16
In 2016, Regus was rebranded as IWG plc to reflect its broader range of services beyond traditional office spaces. Today, IWG operates multiple brands within the flexible workspace sector and is recognized as one of the largest providers globally, with thousands of locations.45 Dixon's innovative approach has been instrumental in shaping modern work environments, particularly as trends toward hybrid working models have gained traction in recent years.34
In addition to his work with IWG, Dixon owns a vineyard in Provence, France, which produces around five million bottles of wine annually. His personal life includes a marriage to journalist Trudy Groves from 1988 until their divorce in 2005.12 As of 2021, his net worth was estimated at £1.437 billion.1
