American architect and founder of Mark Cavagnero Associates
Mark Cavagnero, FAIA, is an influential American architect born on July 7, 1957. He is the founding principal of Mark Cavagnero Associates, an architecture firm established in 1988 in San Francisco. His architectural career began in 1983 at the New York City office of Edward Larrabee Barnes, where he was significantly influenced by his mentor. In 1988, he co-founded a firm with John Barnes, which later became known as Mark Cavagnero Associates.1
Cavagnero's work is recognized for its contributions to various sectors, including public, non-profit, and private projects. Notable works include the SFJAZZ Center, the Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera, and the major expansion of the Oakland Museum of California. His firm has also been involved in projects like the UCSF Weill Institute of Neurosciences and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Tower.12
