    Mark Bobak is a composer, sound designer, and educator based in Los Angeles, with roots in jazz pianist beginnings in Chicago.

    He has transitioned towards experimental music and computer-assisted composition, blending improvisation with calculation in works for voices, electronic media, and chamber ensembles.

    Bobak co-founded and served as the principal software developer of Vir2Ual Cage, a multi-media interpretation project based on John Cage's 'Song Books'.

    His interests span data sonification, compositional algorithms, creative improvisation, and his academic pursuits led him to delve into the work of avant-jazz pianist Cecil Taylor for his dissertation.

    Bobak's work has been showcased across North America and Europe at prestigious venues and festivals, including REDCAT in Los Angeles, University of York (UK), Academy of Musical Arts in Prague, New Music Exposition and Musica Nova festivals in Brno (Czech Republic), Audio Art festival in Kraków (Poland), and Vértice and Espejos Sonoros festivals in Mexico City, among others.

    His teaching experience includes appointments at California Institute of the Arts, California State Universities at Northridge and Long Beach, Scripps College, and University of Illinois, where he completed his DMA in composition.
