Marijn Meijers
Assistant Professor at University of Amsterdam
Marijn Meijers is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Communication at the University of Amsterdam, specifically within the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR). She holds a Master’s degree in Social Psychology from Tilburg University and earned her Ph.D. in Communication Science from the University of Amsterdam.12
Her research primarily focuses on understanding and promoting pro-environmental behavior. Meijers is particularly interested in leveraging digital communication technologies, such as Virtual Reality, to enhance environmental communication. Her work explores the intersections of health and climate change, as well as the influence of social factors and efficacy beliefs on environmental behavior change.12
In addition to her teaching and research, Meijers is a co-founder and co-director of the Environmental Communication Lab (ECoLab), serves as vice-chair of the International Communication Association’s Environmental Communication Division, and is involved with NeFCA’s Environmental Communication Task Force.23 Her contributions to the field have been recognized through various grants, including those from the Dutch Science Foundation.12
