    Margaret Howard Watson, also known as Peg, is the Founder and former President of the Green Schools Alliance (GSA).1 As the founder of GSA, she led the organization's growth to address climate and conservation challenges through education and action.1

    Before founding GSA, Watson had a background in green architecture and building materials. In 1993, she was selected as one of 60 experts to participate in the "Greening of the White House" initiative during the Clinton Administration.1 She has collaborated with various organizations, including the Natural Resources Defense Council and the White House Council on Environmental Quality.1

    In 1994, Watson founded Global Environmental Options (GEO) to transfer and scale green solutions. Through GEO, she initiated national and international collaborations, bringing together regional stakeholders with private and public sector partners for green master planning.1 Her work included projects such as the Japan Charrette for post-earthquake Kobe and greening charrettes in National Parks like Grand Canyon, Denali, and Yellowstone.1

    Watson's educational background includes a BA from Smith College and an MARCH from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.1 Her work has been inspired by the conservation ethos of the National Parks and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, motivating her to engage the next generation of environmental stewards.1

    Margaret Howard Watson is married to Rob Watson, known as the "Founding Father of LEED" and an international leader in green building and sustainability.2
