Marcos Cáceres is a highly experienced Web Platform and Standards Engineer with over 15 years of experience in product, project, and community management on the Web. He has worked with two leading browser vendors, Mozilla/Firefox and Opera Software, holding positions such as a staff engineer, tech-lead, and manager of a software engineering team.

Cáceres is well known for his contributions as the lead Editor and co-creator of widely deployed W3C Standards such as Web App Manifest, Payment Request API, Permissions API, Screen Wake Lock API, and Screen Orientation API. He has also contributed to HTML specification and has deep knowledge of the Web's architecture and security model.

At W3C, Cáceres co-chairs the Web Apps Working Group, standardizing the next generation of web capabilities. He has also co-chaired the W3C Web Incubator Community Group from 2015 to 2020, which has been the primary driver of innovations on the Web for half a decade.

Apart from standards work, Cáceres is an active software developer with extensive HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and C++ experience. His software is used by hundreds of millions of people through Firefox. Moreover, the software he maintains, ReSpec, generates about 50% of W3C specifications.

His dedication to diversity and inclusion in technology is commendable. For the last five years, Cáceres has mentored numerous people from under-represented groups through Outreachy and Google Summer of Code.

Cáceres is a former Staff Engineer at Mozilla Corporation and a former TAG Member at W3C. Moreover, he has held notable positions as an Instructor, Standardization Consultant, Platform Architect, and University Lecturer in various organizations.

Cáceres holds a BA from The University of Queensland and a BFA (Hons I) from Queensland University of Technology.
