Marcos Aretio is a talented Spanish designer with a strong background in product design and brand development.
After graduating from the renowned design school IED Madrid, Marcos embarked on a successful career journey that has taken him across various creative roles and countries.
He kick-started his career as an art director in prestigious advertising and marketing agencies in Madrid, including La Despensa, a top creative agency in Spain.
In 2010, Marcos relocated to Nuremberg, where he delved into interior and retail design projects for a clientele primarily based in Europe.
Since 2011, Marcos has also been engaging in freelancing work for adidas, contributing his expertise to retail, brand identity, and design projects within the Brand Design department.
His career reached new heights in 2018 when he assumed the position of head of brand design at weareannu, a flourishing German eyewear brand. Under his leadership, the brand rapidly expanded from a single retailer to over 100 within 18 months, solidifying Marcos's role as a pivotal figure and partner in the company.
Apart from his professional accomplishments, Marcos is a global citizen who has lived in 5 countries, 13 cities, and cherished 20 different places as home. Embodying his motto, 'Life only happens once in a lifetime,' Marcos brings a unique perspective shaped by his diverse cultural experiences.
A notable detail about Marcos is that he lost his sense of smell at the age of 17. This event, rather than limiting him, has led Marcos to develop an exceptional ability to appreciate taste, showcasing his adaptability and positive approach to challenges.
His educational background includes studying Product Design at IED Madrid, where he honed his skills and laid the foundation for his successful career.
Throughout his professional journey, Marcos has held key roles such as Creative Director at Markmus Design, Co-founder / Brand Lead at Ginger Magazin, Senior Freelance Designer at adidas, and Director de Arte at LA DESPENSA among others, shaping him into a versatile and accomplished professional in the realm of design and branding.
Additionally, Marcos has contributed to the creative community by curating exhibitions like 'Eco-design: Solutions for a Sustainable Life' at Emisión Cero and showcasing his creative vision and commitment to sustainability.
