Mara Sherman
Mara Sherman is currently a Professor of Cancer Biology & Genetics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she leads a research lab focused on studying the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic cancer.34 Her research aims to understand the interactions between pancreatic cancer cells and their surrounding microenvironment, with the goal of developing targeted therapies.4
Dr. Sherman's academic background includes:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from UCLA (2005-2010)13
- Postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute (2010-2016)13
- Assistant/Associate Professor at Oregon Health & Science University (2016-2022)3
She has received several notable awards and grants, including:
- Pew-Stewart Scholar Award (2020)14
- American Cancer Society Research Scholar Grant (2018)14
- V Foundation V Scholar Award (2017)14
- NIH/NCI Pathway to Independence Award (2015)14
Dr. Sherman's lab uses various approaches, including mouse models, patient-derived organoids, and molecular biology techniques, to investigate the mechanisms underlying tumor-stroma interactions in pancreatic cancer.4
It's worth noting that there is a different Mara Sherman on LinkedIn who works as a Director of Commerce at Starcom in New York City.2 This appears to be a different person from the cancer researcher Dr. Mara Sherman.
