Manuel de Freitas is a prominent figure in the Portuguese publishing industry and literary scene. Born in 1972 in Vale de Santarém, Portugal, he is a poet, editor, literary critic, and entrepreneur.4
As a publisher, Manuel de Freitas founded 20|20 Editora in 2009, which grew to become one of the five largest national publishing groups in Portugal.2 In 2021, 20|20 Editora merged with Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial to form a new company called Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial Portugal. In this new venture, Manuel de Freitas retained a 15% stake and was appointed as the director-general of the company in Portugal.13
Manuel de Freitas' educational background includes graduating from Colégio Militar for his high school education and pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree for five years from Católica Lisbon.
As a poet, Manuel de Freitas has been active since 2000, publishing numerous collections of poetry. Some of his notable works include "Todos Contentes e Eu Também" (2000), "Game Over" (2002), and "Cólofon" (2012).4 His poetic style is associated with the post-modernist movement.4
