Manish Gupta

Manish Gupta is an accomplished researcher and innovator with a PhD in data mining. He has been working at Microsoft Bing as a principal applied scientist and serving as a faculty member at IIIT-Hyderabad since May 2013. In addition, he has been a visiting faculty at ISB since 2016. Manish has a rich research background having interned at Microsoft Research, IBM TJ Watson, NEC Labs, and previously worked at Yahoo!

His research work and innovation are widely recognized, with a portfolio boasting more than 50 refereed papers published in top conferences and journals within the realms of data mining and information retrieval such as WWW, KDD, PKDD, SDM, ICDE, and TKDE. Furthermore, he has filed 12 patents and authored two books on outlier detection for temporal data and information retrieval with verbose queries. Manish also actively contributes to the research community by being on program committees of esteemed conferences like KDD, CIKM, and WSDM.

Manish Gupta pursued his PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the guidance of Prof. Jiawei Han and completed his M.Tech in Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. His specializations and interests revolve around Big Data Analytics, Algorithms, Deep Learning, Data Mining, Information Retrieval and Web Mining, Databases, Text Mining, Machine Learning, Time Series Analysis, Graph Mining, Natural Language Processing, and Optimization.

With a diverse educational background that includes studies at renowned institutions such as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IIT Bombay, and the University of Mumbai, Manish Gupta has made significant contributions to the field of computer science and data mining. Through his roles at Microsoft, academic institutions, and various research internships, he has honed his expertise and established himself as a thought leader in the areas of data mining and information retrieval.
