Malcolm Skingle, an accomplished professional, holds a BSc in Pharmacology/Biochemistry and a PhD in Neuropharmacology. With over 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, he boasts extensive knowledge in managing research activities.
During his tenure, he has published more than 60 articles, focusing on the convergence of industry and academia. Skingle's exceptional skills have been recognized through his appointment as Director of Academic Liaison at GlaxoSmithKline for more than a decade, where he oversees teams in Stevenage, Research Triangle Park, and Philadelphia.
His primary responsibilities entail fostering relationships with various external entities such as Government Departments, Research and Funding Councils, Small Biotechnology Companies, and other science-oriented organizations. Skingle actively participates in numerous external bodies including the BBSRC Strategy Board, the East of England RDA Science and Industry Council, the CBI academic liaison group, and multiple UK University Department advisory groups.
Furthermore, Malcolm Skingle has chaired several influential groups like the BBSRC Bioscience for Industry Panel, the Diamond (Synchrotron) Industrial Advisory Board, the Inner Core Lambert working group on boilerplate agreements, and the ABPI Innovation Advisory team. Skingle's remarkable contributions to the pharmaceutical sector were acknowledged with a CBE in the 2009 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
